Areca Palm products are naturally water and grease-resistant. They can be used multiple times by simply rinsing them and air drying. We have used them 5-6 times and they were still good to go. They will eventually warp but they then they can be tossed in the compost pile where they break down fast unlike the paper products which take a long time to compost.
As an experiment we had used this plate 6 times and it has plenty of life still in it.
